Emilio Serrano was born in Jumilla. He took his first dance steps at the dance academy of his hometown. Aged 14, he entered the Professional Dance Conservatory of Murcia. He broadened his training thanks to renowned teachers such as Merche Esmeralda, Belén Maya, Carmina Ocaña, José Carlos Martínez, Manuel Reyes, Juan Mata and many more. Emilio has worked for over thirty companies. Among which, it is worth mentioning: The Ballet Español de Murcia, Compañía de Danza Aida Gomez, Soloist Dancer of the Ballet Español Rafael Aguilar, Compañía de Danza Antonio Márquez, Principal Dancer of Ballet Flamenco de Madrid, First Dancer of the Italian company IKO ITALIAN (Italy), Soloist Dancer of the Vienna Opera Ballet Company - St. Margarethen Festival (Austria), Dancer of the Zarzuela Companies of José Antonio Irastorza and Nieves Fernández de Sevilla, Compañía de los Teatros del Canal and José Luis Moreno, among others.
Dancer at the Masada Opera Festival (Israel), Special Guest of the National Symphony Orchestra in Kiev (Ukraine), Dancer of the TV Ballet (Producers: Miramon Mendi, Grupo Smedia) where he has worked for various TV programmes, New Year's Eve Galas, etc.
He has also worked as a dancer for: Compañía Teatral 7 Comediantes, Compañía Nuestras Raíces, Compañía La Badana, Ballet Inquietudes, Compañía Lírica de Madrid, Compañía Consentío Teatro-Danza, Coral Crevillentina, Cuadro Flamenco Almoraima under the direction of guitar player Pepe Piñana, Ballet Español de Aurora Ruiz, among others. Emilio combines his work as a dancer with that of choreographer. During 9 months a year, he is the choreographer of the popular weekly TV show 'A tu vera', broadcast by several Spanish regional TV channels.
He choreographed for Canal Castilla La Mancha TV channel the 'Antología de la Copla' Gala, with some of the most important Spanish 'copla' singers and artists, such as Manolo Escobar, Charo Reina, Pastora Soler, Francisco, etc.
He was also the Artistic Director, Choreographer and Lead Dancer of the show called 'Antología de la Zarzuela', where he was highly successful both among critics and audience, and where he had the chance to share the stage with the most important figure of contemporary opera: the tenor Plácido Domingo.
As a young professional, he has danced under the direction of the best stage directors and choreographers from all over the world. He has performed in front of eminent persons and high-rank officers such as the King of Saudi Arabia, the King of Spain, Government Presidents, Sheikhs, Heads of State, Culture Ministers and Ambassadors from different countries.
He has worked a lot in TV and advertising, being the face of several brands during the last few years.
In 2009, he founded his own company, 'Ballet Español Emilio Serrano'. Since then, Emilio combines his work as a dancer and choreographer of various companies and ballets with that of director, choreographer and dancer of his own company.
He has premièred several shows: 'Flamenco Santo', 'ConSentío', 'Una Noche Contigo', 'La Gran Noche de la Zarzuela' and 'In Time'.
